Dragon*Con...
- Huge. I still have major trouble with crowds, but with some friendly volunteer escorts I managed to get through it and accomplish things with a minimum of panic attacks.
- Got free books, including an advance uncorrected copy of one. I'd never read that author, but it sounded interesting and I wanted to see what advance copies should look like. Also have decided that I will spend way more time in the writer's track next year.
- Tor.com is the coolest thing ever. Except that there were a lot of coolest things ever at this con. Still, you should go look.
- Concluded that I need to offer more panels/roundtables at cons, I miss doing that.
- Made new friends, talked to old ones a lot.
- Watched the parade and the costume contests from my hotel room. Have concluded I should have this same room next year.
- Remembered to eat. A huge thank-you to Jacque, Viking-Sensei's wife, who cooked for all of us.
- Made contacts, learned important things, made progress on Errant Story publication quest.
- Booth setup and tear down went incredibly smoothly.
- Talked to artists about expanding online store, there was some interest, which is encouraging because I really believe in that idea.
- Next year I need a minivan and to bring only a skeleton staff. Gas and parking and hotel rooms are really expensive.
- I lost my favorite pair of sunglasses just before leaving Tuesday morning. I lose one per con season, but it still blows.
- Worked on an awesome project that I will tell you all about once it's more than a series of scripts and a couple hilarious sketches by Poe.
And that was Dragon*Con in a nutshell.
